Each December, in the week prior to the holiday break, the Urban Choice Charter School located in Rochester, NY, opens a 'store' of new and gently used items. Their students have the opportunity to 'shop', free of charge, for family members or other special people in their lives. Funds provided by the Foundation support the "stocking" of the store's shelves.

2021

The Holidays:

The Foundation teamed up with Urban Choice Charter School in Rochester, NY to provide holiday meals to twelve deserving families. A significant portion of Urban Choice's student body comes from three of the most impoverished zip codes within the city and this small gesture goes a long way in helping alleviate hunger while restoring some joy in the holidays. The appreciation these families expressed reaffirmed the positive impact our donors are helping drive in our communities.

Pandemic Support:

During the spring of 2021 the Foundation provided $5,000 to fund the supply of Chromebooks, headphones, mice and extra supply cords to the students at Urban Choice. With a student body facing an extensive uphill battle when it came to technology supplies and connectivity, this support allowed for their students to continue their active participation both away from the class room and upon their return.

2020

With the limited in-person instruction, this year's store will be delayed until the children's return to school in the new year. In addition to supplying "shop inventory" funding, we were also able to provide meals to 12 families during the holiday season.

2019

This year we were able to help sponsor their winter store which allowed every student to pick out and wrap a gift for their loved ones!

2018

Our first annual Back to School Supply Gift was a great success! Thanks to our donors, we were able to pack 96 backpacks full of school supplies, and gifted them to the children at Urban Choice Charter School in Rochester, New York.
